		Sunrise	One of the first varieties locally available. This apple tends to be sweet and a little on the small size. It imakes a great snacking / eating apple.
		Gingergold	Great for snacking, though it can be used for most other purposes. The cream-colored flesh resists browning more than most varieties. The flavor is mild but with a tart finish. Makes excellent apple pies—sweet, tart, firm, and juicy.
		Sun Crisp	This apple has a spicy-sweet taste that becomes milder the longer they are left to sit. The inside of the apple is a creamy white color and is very juicy. They are great for cooking, especially mixed with recipes featuring cinnamon.
		Gala	Gala apples are small and are usually red with a greenish or yellow-green, vertically striped area. Gala apples are fairly resistant to bruising and are sweet and grainy, with a mild flavor and a thinner skin than most apples. Quality indices include firmness, crispness, and sweetness.
		McIntosh	The soft flesh can be described as "creamy" or "mealy," which makes this variety a good candidate for eating raw or for apple sauce. Slightly tart, crisp, and very juicy.
		Cortland	Slightly tart, crisp, with very white flesh. Best for snacking, salads, pies, sauce, and baking. Cortland apples are wonderful for kabobs, fruit plates, and garnishes because they don't turn brown quickly when cut.
		Jonathan	The Jonathan apple is a medium-sized sweet apple with a strong touch of acid and a tough but smooth skin. Tart, crispy, and juicy. Best for snacking, pies, and sauce.
		Red Delicious	Red Delicious has a sweet but very mild flavor, somewhat reminiscent of slightly over-ripe melon. The flesh is juicy and has a light crispness. Best for snacking and salads.
		Golden Delicious	Sweet and mellow. Crisp and juicy. Best for snacking, salads, pies, sauce, and baking. This honey sweet apple is a special treat all on its own. You can actually cut down the sugar in pies and sauces made from Golden Delicious apples.
		Empire	With the popular Red Delicious and McIntosh for parents, Empire apples were destined to be a hit. More sweet than tart and extra crisp. Best for snacking, salads, and sauce.
		Jonagold	Like the Golden Delicious, Jonagold is sweet and thin-skinned, but it takes from the Jonathan a smooth skin and tart flavor. It is versatile and can be used in any recipe calling for apples.
		Honeycrisp	Honeycrisp is exceptionally crisp and juicy. Its flesh is cream colored and coarse. No other apple matches its crispness. This apple is great for eating right out of your hand or salads and sauce making..
		Nittany	The Nittany, named after the Penn State Nittany lion has a greenish-yellow background with some red blush. Very crisp, sweet taste. Best for snacking, salads, pies, sauce, and baking.
		Cameo	Cameo apples are thought to be a cross between Red and Golden Delicious apples. Cameo apples have a creamy yellow colored background with red striping over it. The Cameo apple has crisp, juicy flesh with a sweet flavor and a touch of tartness. Cameos keep great when refrigerated. Sweet, tart, and firm. Best for snacking and salads.
		Pink Lady	Pink Lady is becoming another popular apple with its "hot pink" skin color and an amazing sweet-tart flavor. The flesh is white, crunchy, and juicy making it great for snacking and salads. Crisp with a sweet taste. Can also be used for pies and baking.
